Reflection Week 6

Today's lesson (30th March 2013), I have learnt about how to use Microsoft Publisher and ChemSketch, where both are free software. I really enjoy exploring both software. Here are some information about Microsoft Publisher and ChemSketch 

What is Microsoft Publisher?

The Microsoft Publisher desktop publishing software, which helps users turn out materials such as magazines, booklets and business cards, was broken out into a new version of the Microsoft Office Suite in 2010.

The advantages and disadvantages of Microsoft Publisher 

It offers a work environment that makes it easy to work with documents in a variety of sizes and shapes. It has a larger variety of tools to help you arrange and align text, images, and other objects within the page margins. However, it does not include the theme colors, advanced image editing tools, or many of the other new features present in Word and PowerPoint 2010.Very slow installation process.

Justification

I will use Microsoft Publisher because it is very easy to use, allow you to become creative, save time and money.

I can use Microsoft Publisher to create birthday card for my kids.

What is ChemSketch?

ACD/ChemSketch is a chemically intelligent drawing interface that allows you to draw almost any chemical structure including organics, organometallics, polymers, and Markush structures. Use it to produce professional looking structures and diagrams for reports and publications.

The advantages and disadvantages of ChemSketch

Visualize chemical structures in 2D or 3D to gain more insight into spatial configurations, and relationships to molecular properties and can Create professional reports, working with structures, text, and graphics simultaneously. However, you cannot directly copy and paste your chemical structure to the Open Office software.

Justification

ChemSketch uses many standard file formats for the import and export of drawings. The program allows the user to draw chemical structures including organics, organometallics, polymers, and Markush structures. Besides that, users can download a free version the software on the ACD/Labs website.

Aplication

ChemSketch really help me to draw chemical structure especially organic molecular structure. Besides, that we can also used ChemSketch to draw laboratory kits, graphical method and chemical equations. The sample of aplications are shown as follows;
